How To Choose The Right Bouquet For A Special Event

A visit to a florist for the right bouquet may be a bewildering experience, as every flower shop offers you an abundance of choices. The variety in flowers is quite mind boggling, but the job is made somewhat simpler by the fact that almost every flower of every colour has some significance attached to it, which makes it proper for a particular occasion. If you know what meanings are conveyed by the different flowers, then you come down to a small set of flowers to pick from, and your choice becomes easy.

Since Victorian times , and perhaps even before that, different flowers have come to symbolize different emotions. Red roses stand for sincerity in love, and yellow roses symbolize love that is less physical and more like friendship. Colourful carnations and tulips also fall in the group of flowers having meaning and messages for the people who receive them depending on their colour.

It is traditional and a prevalent practice to present bouquets to a couple on their wedding day. In such cases, the best bet is to have bouquets and arrangements that mirror the theme or season of the wedding. If the wedding is being held in spring, then a bouquet with spring flowers can be gifted to the couple, and in case of a traditional marriage a bouquet having an assortment of white and red flowers can be gifted.

Colourful and bright flowers should be kept for joyous occasions like anniversaries and birthdays, and flowers like roses, daisies and chrysanthemums are the most appropriate for bouquets meant for such event s. Someone who has successfully concluded his or her graduation with flying colours deserves flowers that people can associate with both happiness and refinement. A bunch or bouquet of lilies of diverse colours that render a fabulous visual effect is an excellent option for the occasion.

Sombre flowers like white carnations are the most appropriate for an occasion of bereavement, like the recent death of a close acquaintance. A white wreath or bouquet implies that you as a giver are wishing that the dead person’s soul may find everlasting peace. However, vibrant flowers like tropical blooms are the best messengers of a get-well-soon message, and thus they are ideal for presenting to people who are bed ridden due to illness.

You might suddenly think that selecting the right bouquet for an event is like walking through a minefield, but remember that a florist can always come to your rescue if you have no idea how to proceed. If you are purchasing flowers from a good florist in Singapore, then the people there will happily guide you in making the right choice for your purpose.
