Whilst wandering about the blogosphere..2
I found a post http://www.inthegardenonline.com/serendipity/index.php?/archives/79-My-Favorite-Plant-Common-Lilac.html on Lilacs.
I’d forgotten all about the lilacs my Nana used to grow in her garden. It made me feel very nostalgic, bringing back all of the sights and sounds of the garden that has long since gone.
Gramps use to have a huge greenhouse down in the backyard in which he grew the most magnificent orchids. The lilac was in the front yard next to the front door. I remember the perfume well as it used to waft around new visitors. Nana used to make a special kind of soup and I remember the smells mingling.
It’s amazing how many memories can be invoked by the thought of one plant. I guess that’s the glory of childhood!
